When does "the time of the end" begin?
Is the time of the end
the SAME as
the end of the world?
For some inexplicable misguided reason for some brethren it
is important for one well-defined doctrinal point of truth must be able to
sustain two political positions at the same time in the same way or rather the
position they favor the most.
This of course is contrary to the Spirit of truth that is
promised to guide us into all truth. Thus in obedience to 3SC1:11.1 we have
gathered all of the passages in the SRod on both of these phrases to hear what
the “golden bowl” has to say concerning their usage.
Let the SRod interpret itself:

3Tr:95.3 is a rare example of how something, as it is written, cannot be, i.e. 1Tr:36.4. This appearance occurs when you lift and isolate sentences from the whole. The warning given to us is "Be Book Students Instead of Sentence Readers" (3SC8-10:10.5). (See also: 9Tr40:98.1 1st Ed.)
"It is never right to interpret any scripture isolated from its context, and when those who love the truth, study any doctrinal subject, they never, in trying to harmonize their private opinion with a scripture in point, leave the scripture so interpreted as to contradict either other portions of the Bible or the position of constituted authority, but rather forsake their opinion."—9Tr40:98.1 [1st Edition]
Of course, as disclosed this appearance can be avoided when we choose to respect the prophet's progressive interpretation of a series of predicted events that are soon to come to pass. We must regard the context as presented instead of misapplying it as though he is speaking of his present day. And what pertains to the future cannot be transposed into the present day. Contrary to popular opinion the preaching of the SRod message is not happening now. It is a message to be preached to the world (2SR:181.2) while SDAs now have the privilege of understanding what it means in order to mature, become transformed, and fitted for the future task today.

What does non-contradiction mean?
: absence of logical
contradiction … the law of noncontradiction, which states that contradictory
propositions cannot both be true at the same time and in the same sense.—
Why is the law of non-contradiction important?
The law of non-contradiction
teaches that two opposing statements cannot both be true at the same time and in the same sense. Time is an essential context to a truth claim. ... Any
conception of truth outside of its being objective will ultimately lead to a
logical contradiction, and is therefore impossible. Apr 6, 2008
Is the law of Noncontradiction true?
The Law of Non-Contradiction
says that a statement cannot be both true and false at the same time and in the
same way. No connection to whether or not 'choice exists'....Yes, the law of
noncontradiction is true (if you want to use the word “true”).
Can two contradictory statements be true?
In logic, the law of
non-contradiction (LNC) (also known as the law of contradiction, principle of
non-contradiction (PNC), or the principle of contradiction) states that
contradictory propositions cannot both be true in the same sense at the same
time, e. g. the two propositions "p is the case" and "p is not
the case" ...
What is an example of contradiction?
A contradiction is a situation or ideas in opposition to one another....Examples of a contradiction in terms include, "the gentle torturer," "the towering midget," or "a snowy summer's day." A person can also express a contradiction, like the person who professes atheism, yet goes to church every Sunday.

when does the "time of the end" begin?
The Book of Daniel and the Time of the End
QUESTION NO. 171:
When does "the time of the end" begin, and when was the book of Daniel opened? Is it wide open? {3SC8-10:8.3}
ANSWER:
The angel who instructed Daniel declared that the book would be closed until the time of the end. Therefore, in the time of the end the book must be opened. The Word does NOT say that the book is opened either at the beginning or at the close of the "time of the end," all at once or a little at a time, but simply in the period of "the time of the end." However, history proves that the prophecies of Daniel were not all revealed at once, but slowly. The fact that we as yet do not understand the whole book, proves that some parts of it are yet closed; also the fact that a large part of it is now understood makes it evident that we are living "in the time of the end." This time must have begun when the book began to be opened, but if we must declare the beginning of that time in more specific terms, it, in a special sense, began in the year 1844. The time of the end is the period just before the end of the world.—3SC8-10:8.3, 4 [1937]
"When Does The Time Of The End Begin?"
Let us read--
Dan. 11:35—"And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge them, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed." {1TG4:24.1}
Here you note that God's people were to fall, be persecuted, martyred and tried even to the time of the end. They were to go through that ordeal in order to be purged, tried, and made white. Bear in mind that the purging was to continue up "to the time of the end," and that the king of the south was to push against the king of the north "at the time of the end." Now mark that the preposition "to" terminates at the preposition "at," that where the purging ends, the king's pushing begins. These points were brought to light at the beginning of this study. {1TG4:24.2}
So far as I am able to find, history teaches that the martyrdom ceased in 1700 A.D. and that the Turkish empire began to shrink in 1699. (See Map No. 10 of Tract 12, The World Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.) The time of the end, therefore, BEGAN at the closing of the seventeenth century, the time martyrdom ceased, and the time the Turkish empire began to disintegrate. {1TG4:24.4}
Moreover, speaking of the tribulation in which millions were martyred, Jesus said: "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened...." Matt. 24:29. The dark day came in 1780 A. D. And while the Turkish empire kept on shrinking, the British kept on expanding. Here is seen that prophecy perfectly corroborates history.…—1TG4:24.1-25.1 [1946]
Isa. 2:2—"And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it." {1TG5:4.1}
Not a man, not a people or a nation, but the Lord Himself so declares. The prophet was shown things concerning the Lord's house (church), "in the last days,"—not in Isaiah's days. The statement "last days," in itself leads us to the "time of the end." As we were shown last Sabbath that the time of the end BEGAN in the 18th century, obviously then, the time is here for this marvel of the ages to take place.—1TG5:4.1, 2 [1946]
Dan. 11:41-43—He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown:
Vol. 2 Timely Greetings No. 7 4
but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape. But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps." {2TG7:4.5}
Mark carefully that at the downfall of the king of the south, the king of the north expands and overthrows many countries; that he enters the glorious land (Palestine), but Edom, Moab, and the children of Ammon escape out of his hand. And remember that this work of conquest was to begin at the time of the end. Hence, in the time of the end the king of the south declines, while the king of the north expands. And since the conflict starts at the time of the end, the defeat of the one and the victory of the other are completed in and during the time of the end. {2TG7:5.1}
Next, to learn when the years of the time of the end began, and who the king of the south and who the king of the north are, all you need to know is when such a clash began, and who in the time of the end ceded Egypt and Palestine to an enemy power, what power has as a result shrunk during the time of the end, and what power has expanded. There is but one answer, and that is: While the Ottoman Empire has been shrinking since 1669 A.D., the British Empire has been expanding, and it today rules Egypt and Palestine. Hence, today Turkey is the king of the south, and Great Britain, the king of the north; and according to this prophetic conflict, the time of the end started at the beginning of the eighteenth century.—2TG7:4.5-5.2
From the study of the eleventh chapter of Daniel, we have learned several positive truths: 1. That the time of the end BEGAN in the eighteenth century; 2. That the king of the south is the Ottoman empire; 3. That the king of the north at the present time is Great Britain in particular; 4. That World War II is the war in Daniel eleven.—2TG7:10.1 [1947]
See: 2TG42:24.1-25.5
Obviously, therefore, these historic facts, besides
Vol. 2 Timely Greetings No. 42 25
others we have not mentioned, prove that rising from the jungles south of Palestine, the Ottoman empire, next after the Ptolemies, holds the title "king of the south"; and the nations north of Palestine, the Christian nations rising from the Roman empire (and now Great Britain in particular) hold the title "king of the north." And since the decline of the Ottoman empire began in 1699, and the growth of the British Empire began during the same time, then the beginning of the eighteenth century is therefore the beginning of the "time of the end."—2TG42:25.6 [1948]
Thus when regarding the specific prophetic waymark details
"…The time of the end, therefore, BEGAN at the closing of the seventeenth century, the time martyrdom ceased, and the time the Turkish empire began to disintegrate."—1TG4:24.3}
and when speaking in general terms
"…the time of the end BEGAN in the 18th century,…"—1TG5:4.1, 2
That is the best way to put it. There is no such thing as multiple beginnings.
On the other hand "the end of the world" has a different starting point.
…The Master said the harvest is at the end of the world; the angels are the reapers. Then there is reaping to be done.…—1SR:102.1
…The last section of the church in the time of the "loud cry" is indeed the harvest time and the end of the world.—2SR:264.2
…With the sowing of the seed beginning with Christ's baptism and the harvest coming at the "end of the world," the period of the parable obviously embraces the entire gospel dispensation—from the beginning of Christ's ministry to the close of probationary time. Between the two is the
3 Tract 57
Wheat-growing Time. {3Tr:57.2}
The three and one half years from the beginning of Christ's ministry to His crucifixion being the sowing time, and the harvest time being the end of the world, then the intervening period is the time for the growing and ripening of the grain, also the
…And as the 144,000 are the first fruits (Rev. 14:4) of the harvest, they are the "escaped" of the Isaiah 66:19 and of Ezekiel 9. This separation of the tares from the wheat in the church is to signalize the beginning of the final harvest of earth—the end of the world.…—14Tr:19.4
Clearly, the net represents the gospel church into which are caught both hypocrite and saint. Accordingly, in the time of the firstfruit harvest (the Judgment "in the house of God") "at the end of the world" (Matt. 13:49), the angels sever the wicked from among the just, not the just from among the wicked.…—2TG44:35.2
