For every one that doeth evil hateth the light - (d)

Understanding the additional Fundamental Beliefs, part 4 of 4

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light,
lest his deeds should be reproved.
But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest,
that they are wrought in God.

—John 3:20, 21

It is October 15, 1934 in Los Angeles, California. The Symbolic Code News Items in the interest of the SDA Denomination is in effect. What does the “FATHER OF LIGHTS” deem necessary to be known and understood by the …”Battering Rams” who encompass “Mount Zion”…? It is written down on the very first page of Volume One No. 4. This great admonition is judiciously tied to “…tract #4, ‘The Latest News for Mother,’ pp. 65, 66” [ which is strategically violated because of differences of opinions ] followed by “(Keep This Article in Your Notebook)” and closes with James 1:22-24. It is just the third month since the inception of “this prophetic organ” which “proves to be the mouth piece of the Elijah message to restore the defunct and decadent institutes of the Christian religion…” and great perplexing difficulties are prognosticated in this urgent plea and warning.

Thus with great confidence and a clear conscience we can factually state that some prominent and influential brethren have been ringleaders in unlawfully broadcasting their cherished unofficial theory by making it known contrary to Mt. Dale’s Session approved teachings causing much distortions, distraction, and disheartening moral. It is making its rounds among us in spite of this inspired administrative warning contained in 1SC4:1 which is repeated in our 2018 by-laws Art IV; Sec. VII (a), p. 18 and Art. XIII; Sec. I (a), p. 26 with impunity. It is a sure sign that “…the four-headed monster that devoured the people of Exodus” (1An:62.3) has been prominently welcomed among us to have its way with us. Only those who repent from this evil work and begin to trust once again in the Lord their God while they remain dead to self will survive this current scourge. May God indeed have mercy upon us and help us for our sins have separated us from Him.

With that needing to have been stated upfront to bring transparent awareness of our current woeful plight we will be representing facts. We will steer clearly away from atypical, half-sided, control-the-narrative perspective that is commonly deployed. “Dogs and cats, not civilized human beings, start eating the slice of pie from the center out. As intelligent human beings, as God's people, we ought to eat the pie correctly.” (1TG5:3.1.) Instead we shall endeavor to present a vulnerable, holistic approach open for our complete investigation. We will make time to examine various key passages contextually in the light of the Shepherd’s Rod message and asking pertinent questions of the SRod that it must answer if we are to understand the direction the Light desires to lead us. By the grace of God we shall do our best to leave no reference unturned and unexamined. However, to prevent fatigue the majority of references will only be cited but most importantly they will NOT be ignored and suppressed. They will be recorded here and left on record. Your input or feedback will be greatly appreciated and welcomed in the event something is left in uncertainty. We will be obedient to the following study principle:  “Moreover, whatever interpretation we may place on ANY statement in reference to ANY truth, must be in harmony with every OTHER statement on the subject.” (3SC1:11.1.) This too has its apparent limit. We will demonstrate that there are cases where the prophet makes an absolute update (the Remnant: Rev. 12:17) so that both references can no longer occupy the same position once previously understood.

“Let all things be done decently and in order.” (1 Cor. 14:40.)

Enjoy the journey with Jesus Christ as you “hunger and thirst” (Matt. 5:6) to have a clearer view of the sanctifying (John 17:17) power of truth (Rom. 1:16) and as you prepare yourself to give “an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in your with meekness and fear.” (1 Pet. 3:15.)

Are the Fundamental Beliefs written in Chronological order?

There is a mistaken and unproven theory going around among this Mountain Dale Association of Seventh-day Adventists for many years that rigorously asserts that the “Fundamental Beliefs” are actually written in the “Fundamental Order.” That these beliefs shall be fulfilled sequentially just as they are written. They can be found in “Fundamental Beliefs and Directory of the Davidian Seventh-day Adventists” and also in 2TG10. The only beliefs out of 37 which are unnaturally singled out and contested for a specific and determined order in which additional belief No. 4 through No. 9 must be fulfilled in that strict order are found on 2TG10:29.3-30.3 [1947]. But upon critical thinking, why are the first 22 beliefs which are derived from the parent denomination of the SDA Church are not regarded by this synthetically imposed standard? Some of our brethren’s impatient ideas and methods to disclose this enigma based upon what order shall these six beliefs be fulfilled at this time is threatening to set us apart, steal our genuine Christian fellowship one from another instead of coming together.

"Today the world is full of flatterers and dissemblers; but God forbid that those who claim to be guardians of sacred trusts, shall betray the interests of God's cause through the insinuating suggestions and devices of the enemy of all righteousness.
"There is no time now to range ourselves on the side of the transgressors of God's law, to see with their eyes, to hear with their ears, and to understand with their perverted senses.  We must press together.  We must labor to become a unit, to be holy in life and pure in character.  Let those who profess to be servants of the living God no longer bow down to the idol of men's opinions, no longer be slaves to any shameful lust, no longer bring a polluted offering to the Lord, a sin-stained soul."—Testimonies to Ministers, pp. 470, 471.”—12SC1:4.

There is also a growing, recruiting faction among us that despise Session’s positive decision on Bro. Houteff’s Sermon Codes that were recorded, retained and then circulated more prominently among Seventh-day Adventists posthumously by Florence Houteff.

We will do our best to debunk such fallacies, expose and disarm the cherished psychological method of couching some half-facts by presenting this concoction by a false dilemma. So that their ultimate aim here is if you do not subscribe to their theory of the “Fundamental Order” your influence and ability to teach truth in the light of the SRod message should be discredited and you are no longer to be regarded as a credentialed Davidian Seventh-day Adventist. For those who may not know the poison of this cunning piece of work of what a false dilemma is and how it is deployed see the following vivid example.

https://owl.excelsior.edu/argument-and-critical-thinking/logical-fallacies/logical-fallacies-false-dilemma/

Some might be feeling uncomfortable, naked, and may argue that such descriptive language should be absent among us brethren. However, “…the excellence of truth is more clearly seen from every successive point from which it may be viewed. Error requires disguise and concealment.” (1SC7:5.8.)

Has anyone ever witnessed TWO truths coalesce in one place? How about “the dual character of [Christ’s] nature” (DA:507.1)? Now, did we ever witness Christ make any concessions concerning the duality of His character with anyone? As if, it is acceptable if you believe that Jesus is fully man and not God or He is fully God and not man but not both? Can we think of another? “The Loud Cry.” How? The Loud Cry has a fainter period and a loud period (1An:83). Excellent! What else? The Harvest TIME. It also is categorically divided by the prophet to have a 1st portion and a 2nd one during the same TIME period. Can there be others? Yes, there are and this will be the main thrust of this public investigation. For those who love to count in order these are three inspired examples of how two truths may coalesce in one place. This does not mean, however, that this characteristic is true and applicable for every case in every instance. Any truth, principle, or symbol may be abused by the arch deceiver at any given opportunity but with the aid of pride-less prayer and the Holy Spirit we should be able to humbly navigate these treacherous waters and land safely ashore without making shipwreck of faith. Keen discretion, spiritual discernment and wisdom is a pre-requisite.

This exact same difficult situation was visited already when we explored the concept of “the Woman” of Revelation 12. I will not be including it here because we have three heavy weights to address right before us. 1. What is the sealing? 2. What is the “time of trouble”? and 3. Does the winds “loosed” mean something different from “loosed and blowing”? If you would like some assistance to understand this precedence was already set by studying about “the Woman” (part A, and part B) you can pause here and go over that perfect example of two truths coalescing in one place.

What is the Sealing?

Is it the angel of Ezek. 9:4 or is it the message of Rev. 7:2?

This also has been treated and submitted in other reports called:

1.      What is the seal.docx”,

2.      What is the seal2.docx”,

There are additionally nine other reports after No. 6 that lead up to the coalition of the report found in No. 7. All based irrefutably upon the SRod message. These address incontrovertibly “what is the seal?” But I’m just going to throw you into the deep end of the pool to get a taste of the opposition:

Does

[   The Revelator, moreover, was told that the things about which he was to write, were to be "hereafter" (Rev. 4:1)—after 96 A.D., when he had the vision. And furthermore, the sealing of the 144,000 takes place in the period of "the sixth" seal, just prior to the opening of "the seventh" seal (Rev. 6:12-17; 7:1-17; 8:1), shortly before the end of all things.]—9Tr:53.3

contradict

[   The above proves that the slaughter comes before the gathering of the second fruits and under the seventh seal, and that the Loud Cry begins with an additional message and with mighty power. However, WHEN the seventh seal begins, the events of the sixth do not necessarily cease, for all the seals extend to the close of probation. (See "The Shepherd's Rod," Vol. 2, p. 221.) Revelation 8:1, speaking of the silence in Heaven for the space of half an hour, proves to be the event of the fulfillment of Ezekiel 9. AT which time "shall Michael stand up." It is at this juncture that Christ puts on His garments of vengeance and surprises the hypocrites in Zion. See "Testimonies for the Church," Vol. 5, p. 690.]—2SC5,6:10.2

???

[Just in case you are not aware 7SC7-12:19.1-3 is in perfect harmony with 2SC5,6:10.2. It is speaking about the same TIME when Michael shall stand.]

Which one is true, are the 144,000 sealed in the 6th seal or in the 7th seal?

Now, here is a gasp of fresh air. If you were diligent in going beneath the superficial surface in addressing previously raised issues above which are currently being exposed you would have immediately identified that the chosen manner, if insisted upon in its current form, in presenting this question through the biased lens of a false dilemma is essentially wicked. Do you not see the attempted pitting of one truth in the SRod against another equally valid one leading you not into all truth but into error? Thus, it is the basis of the three epistles of the Apostle John to counter “the advanced” Gnostics attempting to lead the followers of the apostolic church to deny the deity of the Son of man.

You might ask, which error? Are not these our brethren? They would not do that? Before you jump to a conclusion on what anyone is capable of doing please do not underestimate the error of casting a portion of the truth behind you (7BC:947.4) as some do with eternal consequences. This is why before answering this question you must first reject the false premise (7T:181.1) upon which it is based, step around this false dilemma logical fallacy and accept if you haven’t already done so, that both positions are actually true. We must also provide a harmonious biblical explanation in light of the SRod that may not have been made readily available by Bro. Houteff himself because he was never presented with this question. And when sincerely seeking to provide a harmonious explanation in the light of the SRod brace yourself for the unjustified wicked attack, “That is not in the SRod!” and/or “Those are your constructions!” and/or “That is private interpretation!” Thus, discrediting the source of your spiritually informed opinion because it is not a verbatim explanation found in the SRod. When necessary they will either assign you the credit for what VTH wrote in order to unlawfully deny the inspired implication of the suppressed passage or they will outright blatantly twist and wrest the passage out of its immediate context. All this to neutralize the interconnected, multifaceted truth, gold tried in the fire which sets at naught their uninspired theory. But we are going to show you how to deal with these types of attacks by presenting what is true. The truth fits only one way, always.

Now for the answer to “what is the seal?” The short version.

"…Therefore, as the sealing message makes its way through the church, those who awake and reform (sigh) and endeavor to enlighten others by the light that is shining upon them (cry), he receives the seal.”—1SC13:9.6 [1935]

The Revelator, moreover, was told that the things about which he was to write, were to be "hereafter" (Rev. 4:1)—after 96 A.D., when he had the vision. And furthermore, the sealing of the 144,000 takes place in the period of "the sixth" seal, just prior to the opening of "the seventh" seal (Rev. 6:12-17; 7:1-17; 8:1), shortly before the end of all things.—9Tr:53.3 [1942]

…Therefore, as the sealing message makes its way through the church, only those who awake and reform (sigh) and endeavor to share with others (cry) the light that is shining upon them, receive the seal.…—2An:34.1 [1944]

And you also have another discovered side seemingly contradictory heretofore unrecognized never taught before position when you compare these three above sample references which agree with each other with a statement such as:

“…The purification of the church, therefore, is a separation of the sinners from the true people of God.  AT the time of its fulfillment, the immediate future, the 144,000 receive the seal, or mark, escape the slaughter, become the ‘servants of God,’ and go forth unto the nations to finish the work.…
Brethren, we must "sigh and cry" against the sins in the church; not against the message which is to seal us for translation and make us a people fitly symbolized by the mountains of brass.  Your sighing and crying for the abominations done in her ‘midst,’ makes you ELIGIBLE for the ‘mark’; but should you attempt to shield the abominations, you shall fall under the slaughter weapons of the angels.…”—2Tr:22.2-23 [1941] (See also: 5Tr:74.2; 7SC7-12:19.2.)

Even 2Tr:22.2-23 if we are not lead by the Holy Spirit, the teacher of righteousness, may think that the first portion quoted above supports the new position then in the next sentence quoted VTH contradicts himself. That it is really the message that seals not the angel at the threshold of the house. And then in the following sentence, he contradicts himself again and supports the newly discovered position which was described in the first sentence. Therefore, as a member among the wise, we are not going to politicize these two views by making them fight in order to prop up our favorite side. What we are going to do as disciplined diligent Davidians is FIRST to give the Bible its rightful place as the prophets always do. And we are going to reject the pseudo strawman argument that unless you are a prophet you cannot give the Bible its proper pinnacle place. We will yield to the interpretation of Ezek. 9:3-9 in 1tr:12.2,3;17.3-18.2; 20.1-21.3; 38.2. This interpretation must NEVER be contradicted. It conforms and affirms what the Bible says. That at the time the sealing angel receives the command from Jesus Christ they are all [with the 5 other destroying angels] at the threshold of the house during the ½ hour silence which takes place AT, not before and certainly not after, but AT the opening of the 7th Seal. [Can we please begin to respect plain English grammar here? Let us hold these private constructors to “a thus saith the Lord.”]

But this does not preclude the work of the arrival of "the sealing angel" (Rev. 7:2) [when a message is represented as an angel as is the case when studying from John’s perspective] that arrives, joins, during the period of the fainter cry in preparation for the Loud Cry (1An:83) EVENT that is sealing God's people in order to be saved from their sins in the sealing period for the 144,000. Practical Truth seals and there is no exception with this "present truth" (EW:63.1) revealed since 1929. The only difference is that the 144,000 will receive an “additional” seal/mark beside the one provided by obedience to the message (7SC7-12:21.2-5). It is “a special seal” to prevent the “firstfruits” from tasting death from the slaughtering angels AT the COMMENCEMENT of Harvest TIME.

Thus, the only controversy is the one available “to the workman that needeth” “to be ashamed” wrongly “dividing the word of truth.” However, if we are willing to unlearn in order to harmonize all inspired quotes and part ways with our politicized preconceived cherished unproven theories based on half-truths and shoddy workmanship then we shall indeed be able to wear the robe of Christ's righteousness “which is pure, unadulterated truth.” (TM:64.3.) “If a man judges himself by the word of God, and finds a perfect harmony through the whole word, then he must believe he has the truth;”—1SR:13.2

You will benefit most at another occasion to labor over the long version to see how we arrived at solving this apparent conflicting points step by step. With patience, it builds your critical logical thinking analysis skills. Some haters will tort, “I don’t need your documents to understand the SRod message.” Then why aren’t they solving these apparent controversies instead of creating great violence within the message and dividing members through creative cunning cherished unproven theories by pride of opinions?

The Next topic is quite challenging but necessary if you are going to make a final determination that God can approve between two truths that coalesce in one place. For your convenience, I’m going to list all of the references where the phrase a “time of trouble” exists alone and the “time of trouble such as never was.” Please observe if Bro. Houteff makes a meaningful significant distinction for these to have their proper place one following the other or are they speaking of one and the same thing in the same way.

What is a “Time of trouble”?

We will first look at the “time of trouble such as never was” and then look back at a “Time of Trouble” and will begin to monitor if Bro. Houteff makes any distinction or not. I will only be making brief notable comments upon some of them.

B)  “Time of trouble such as never was.”

  1. 2SR:145.3

  2. 3Tr:50.3        [x2]

  3. 4Tr:38.1

  4. 5Tr:77.1

  5. 5Tr:118.1

  6. 8Tr:22           [x2]

This reference, 8Tr:22, shows you both. It also contains Ezek. 9 by quoting Isa. 63:1-4.

  7. 8Tr:58.1

  8. 9Tr:63.2        [x2]

This, 9Tr:63.2, shows you both when you consider the interpretation of "What is the great and dreadful day of the Lord?" (See: 7SC7-12:19.2-3.)

  9. 9Tr:65.4

10. 12Tr:55.4 [x2]

11. 12Tr:61.3

12. 12Tr:90.6

13. 14Tr:25.4

If Dan. 12:1 had zero application during the Assyrian war which is found in Daniel chapter 11, God would have never allowed Elijah the prophet to quote it in a Bible study solely dedicated to the anti-typical Assyrian period. This Association/Confederacy is soon to happen according to 14Tr:54.2. It shall apply to us AFTER the sealing, during the war of Zech. 14, and 24 hrs prior to the purification of Ezek. 9 (deliverance) and the breaking of the Assyrian “yoke.” Isa. 52.1 is the same as Nah. 1:15 (14Tr:20.2-24).

14. 15Tr:57.1

15. 15Tr:59

“…The wind's blowing is, of course, the anger of the nations against the saints; and the angels' hurting is doubtless the Lord's judgment falling upon His enemies.  In other words, the angels and the winds together represent a trouble between God and the nations involving both saints and sinners. Indeed, it is the great and dreadful day of the Lord.” (15Tr:59.1.) So First in the Church [1Pe 4:17] and then in the world again.

This reference clearly shows you both in one paragraph that cannot fulfill in one moment.

16. 15Tr:60.2

17. 1TG6:39.1

This reference, 1TG6:39.1, shows you both in the same paragraph. The same applies here as above.

18. 1TG12:25.2

19. 1TG51:12.4

20. 2TG7:10.3

AT, not after, shall Michael stand. Thus Michael is the cause AT the COMMENCEMENT of the harvest why Assyria a.k.a. "the king of the north comes to his end and none help him." (2SR:151)

21. 2TG7:13.3

22. 2TG15:1   [Title]

23. 2TG16:15  [Title]

24. 2TG16:22.2

25. 2TG16:22.3

26. 2TG17:11.1

Relating to 2TG17:11.1, the two-horned beast's decree of Rev. 13:15 is different from both references the decree in GC:626.1 which is the same as 1Srp:36.

27. 2TG42:29.1

“…Consequently concerning the place of his tabernacles and his end, also as to whether another Christian power shall inherit the title ‘king of the north’ before verse 45 is fulfilled, only time itself will positively portray the whole truth.” (2TG42:27.3)

We now presently understand today that the United States of America has indeed inherited the title the KON as predicted in WLF:8, 9 which confirms 2SR:151.

28. 2SC2:4.2

29. 2SC2:4.3

30. 2SC2:4.8

In regards to 2SC2:4.8, “…proving the fact that a change is to take place AT the COMMENCEMENT of the judgment of the living—Michael is to stand up for His people, take the ‘reins in His own hands’ (‘Testimonies to Ministers.’ p. 300) and deliver ‘every one that shall be found written in the book.’ "

31. 6SC1-6:13.5

6SC1-6:13.5 is a reason why FB No. 5 is distinctly different from No. 6. Winds “loosed” is fundamentally different from winds "loosed and blowing.” I did a full treatment of this Bible study called "winds loosed and blowing" in the document called “Ensign 12” pp. 4.9-7.3 and will bring those points shortly.

32. 7SC7-12:9.5

33. 7SC7-12:9.6

34. 7SC7-12:10.14

This specific TIME in 7SC7-12:10.14 "…finds the church free from the flood of tares…" while contrastingly the "TIME of the time of trouble” in the 11th chapter of Daniel is when the woman is among the tares.

35. 7SC7-12:17.16

36. 7SC7-12:19.3

37. 13SC1,2:10.3

13SC1,2:10.3, (within sound reason and in light of the following passages)

“…it follows that Michael is to stand up in the time of the judgment of the living and deliver His people from the anger of the nations—the time of trouble—or else it would be impossible to preserve the lives of all the 144,000; proving the fact that a change is to take place AT the COMMENCEMENT of the judgment of the living—Michael is to stand up for His people, take the "reins in His own hands" (‘Testimonies to Ministers.’ p. 300) and deliver ‘every one that shall be found written in the book.’ "—2SC2:4.8

“Consequently, the ‘sifting’ which Sister White sometimes places in the time of the mark of the beast is the one which sifts the second fruits or the great multitude of Revelation 7:9, whereas, when the sifting is spoken of as being before time of the mark of the beast, as in ‘Early Writings,’ p. 270, which is performed by the message of the True Witness to the church instead of by the enforcement of the mark of the beast, and which is evidenced in Id., page 277 to have taken place at the commencement of the Loud Cry of the Third Angel's Message, it is the sifting of the first fruits, the 144,000—'the closing work for the church.’—'Testimonies for the Church,’ Vol. 3, p. 266.”—2SC12:7.3

“…Revelation 8:1, speaking of

[1.]  the silence in Heaven for the space of half an hour, proves to be
[2.]  the event of the fulfillment of Ezekiel 9. AT which TIME
[3.]  ‘shall Michael stand up.’ It is AT this juncture that
[4.]  Christ puts on His garments of vengeance

and surprises the hypocrites IN Zion. See ‘Testimonies for the Church,’ Vol. 5, p. 690.”—2SC5,6:10.2

All 4 points described in 2SC5,6:10.2 happen and they are the EVENT of deliverance beginning with the first fruits in the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

39. 2Ans:14.2

40. 2Ans:20.2

41. 2Ans:91.1

42. 2Ans:91.2

43. 2Ans:92.3

44. 3Ans:25.1

[1.] "…It is the church and state allied in common action" (3An:25.1) for the iMOB when the protestant churches are completely united with the civil power against the 2nd fruits.

However, don't attack, dismiss and deny that before the image of the MOB decree

[2.]  “The churches may incompletely confederate almost any time, but the union of church and state (the image of the beast) will take place only after the "investigative judgment" of the dead is completed…"—2SC7,8:12.3. This means then that we are to expect a church and state union before the tares are separated from among the wheat.

“God's people are not only commanded not to participate in the confederacy, but they are to oppose it ‘to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy.’ "—13SC3,4:8.1

“A sanctuary is a place of refuge.  Besides being a place of refuge to God's faithful ones, He is ALSO to be a rock of offense to both the houses of Israel—Judah and Israel—and a gin and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.  Jerusalem was the ruling city of Judah.  From this it is plain that through this confederacy God is to be a gin and snare to antitypical Judah.”—13SC3,4:9.2

Conclusion:

SRod gives us a 1.) church and state union against Judah, during the Assyrian Confederacy, while Assyria has his yoke upon them, while the wheat and tares are still comingled BEFORE the "firstfruits" are reaped. Afterward, after the SDA Esauites are removed, the SRod gives another 2.) church and state union different from the one described in the Assyrian Confederacy for religio-political-economic reasons (iMOB). The wheat in the second fruits is reaped first from Babylon leaving the tares behind.

I highlighted and commented on those that are perfect samples of letting you know that there is a doctrinal difference between a “time of trouble” and “time of trouble such as never was.” These are fundamental distinctions of FB No. 5 and No. 6. Between the winds loosed from loosed and blowing.

The “four winds” that are responsible for the fulfillment of Dan. 12:1 has "a time of trouble," .... and it also has after the comma .... "such as never was since there was a nation." VTH’s interpretation gives this One TIME of trouble and divides it into two sections. The First section involves antitypical Jacob and Esau in the SDA Church AFTER the sealing period (2Tr:23) expires but before the Tares are removed and the other section is the same trouble that "spreads into Babylon." (9Tr:63.) It’s the same Trouble because the trouble is about interfering with the both harvests (9Tr:56.2) in the One Harvest TIME.

I'm going to visually rightly divide what VTH has divided in the paragraph found in 2TG7:10.4 by his interpretation into two sections by using numbers within this singular paragraph…

[1.]   AT that TIME (that is, at the time the king of the north comes to his end and none help him) shall Michael stand;

and at the same time

[2.] THERE SHALL BE trouble such as never was even to that very time.

Only God's people, who have their names written in the book, will be delivered.  None other.—2TG7:10.4

When Michael stands AT that time which three things the SRod says are affected in the great and dreadful day of the Lord? 1. Assyria’s Political power is crushed (14Tr:22.2). 2. Assyria’s dominant control upon the Promised Land, and their death decree upon Judah is annulled and voided (14Tr:17, 18). 3. And Her Confederacy (Isa. 8:9) in which antitypical SDA Esauites joined against antitypical SDA Jacobites is broken (14Tr:45).

When will they (the 144,000 who will cry day and night) be delivered? AT that TIME during the Assyrian period.

What TIME? "AT" [[not AFTER]] "the TIME the king of the north comes to his end…shall Michael stand."

What else is projected into the future AT THAT TIME? "THERE SHALL BE trouble such as never was even to that very time.”

1. Corresponds and justifies FB No. 5.

2. Corresponds and justifies FB No. 6.

The Prophet fundamentally divided these associated beliefs into two separate and distinct doctrines. And yet some Davidians blatantly blaspheme blindly against the Holy Spirit and believe and teach that they are one and the same when they have been divided by the “golden bowl.” This is why No. 5 and No. 6 could never be one and the same thing at the same time. The winds are held until the 144,000 are sealed ONLY. Not until the tares are removed. This is what the Bible says. Can I get a witness?

Now to study the other half. The A portion.

A)  Time of trouble.”

Clearly 1SR:62.2 is during the Assyrian Period. VTH places the trouble in parenthesis "for the church." Unmistakably before God purifies and takes the reins in His own hands and protects them (1Tr:39).

Although in 8Tr:25.1 "such as never was" is absent contextually, in this instance it is referring to that time with the enforcement of the iMOB and not the period of trouble before the law is passed.

15. 9Tr:58.3

16. 12Tr:56.1

Although in 12Tr:56.1 part of the phrase "such as never was" is absent it is referring to that time AFTER the kingdom is set up with the enforcement of the iMOB.

17. 12Tr:91.3

Definitely 12Tr:91.3 involves both because it has been firmly and fully established already the dual application of Dan. 12:1. How it applies to the “firstfruits” FIRST and secondly again to the second fruits.

18. 15Tr:60.2

Deliverance is always preceded by trouble first in the SDA Church after Michael stands.

72. FuD:12.4

Too obvious. Based on the weight of evidence FuD:12.4 is dealing with the Assyrian period.

The majority of 78 times the SRod mentions a “time of troublewithout the additional phrase "such as never was" which is making the distinction and pointing to a “time of trouble” right BEFORE the SDA Church is purified, while she is still commingled with the tares and the Assyrian yoke is upon Judah.

And just as we did in the previous section with “What is the Seal?” We are likewise under a divine injunction not to make inspired references to fight or the worst evil to suppress and deny any but we are going to assign them their proper place in TIME as interpreted by the SRod.

For our third section we are going to examine all 78 source references directly in chronologically revealed order that deal with the winds of Rev. 7:1. What we shall endeavor to prove is the justification for rejecting the blind false illogical baseless assertion that FB No. 5 is the same as FB No. 6.

Do the winds “loosed” mean something different from “loosed and blowing”?

It is high time to disabuse our mind from this private, assumptive idea of what the “four winds” represents. From the first interpretation about the “four winds” of Rev. 7:1 in 1932 until the 17th in Dec. 13, 1947 VTH never once interpreted this symbol to mean it represents the “Sunday Law” itself. Do a search for “Sunday Law” and you will discover one of the theorist’s greatest smoke and mirrors in this false application. There is only one consistent meaning where VTH actually tells us what these “four winds” are. That IS found in 9Tr:52.5. Inspiration authoritatively says “…the ‘four winds,’ figurative of all the nations scattered to the four corners of the earth, are not permitted to blowto HURT anything (Rev. 7:1).” This truth is clearly founded upon 2SR:161.1 and repeated the same in 8Tr:22 as the cherry on top.

Now we are going to diligently, and earnestly examine nine passages. These are often recruited and passed over lightly as evidence to sustain distortions. The aim is a ruthless one. But when regarded in light of the whole tenor of the SRod we begin to see with new eyes and come to realize we need not contort the entire message in order to adapt itself to conform to the theoretical chronological sequential order of six of the fifteen additional Fundamental Beliefs—No. 4 through No. 9. These again can be found in 2TG10:29.3-30.3.

Let us begin by taking them in chronologically revealed order:

The Mark of the Beast, When and What Is It?

Question No. 202:

"Is the mark of the beast the Sunday law?  Is it to be enforced before or after the fulfillment of Ezekiel 9?  And when will 'the gold...be separated from the dross in the church'?" ("Testimonies," Vol. 5, p. 81.)

Answer:

Former publications of Present truth have made clear that "the winds" held by the four angels of Revelation 7:1, represent the angel's holding back "the anger of the nations,"—the image of the beast,—also that the angels will not let "the winds" blow into being the image of the beast before the 144,000 are sealed.  ("Early Writings," p. 38.)

Thus those who in the TIME of the sealing are among the 144,000, and who do not receive the mark of God, according to Ezekiel's vision, are to be tested, not by the image of the beast, but by their attitude toward the abominations IN the church; and those who do not "sigh and cry" against the abominations therein, will be separated by the angels' slaughter weapons (Ezek. 9:6), rather than be left to be tested by the image beast and to be separated when it enforces the reception of the mark of the beast. (Rev. 13:11-18; 3 T 266, 267; 5 T 211.)

Then will the influence of the truth "testify" to the world of its sanctifying, ennobling character.  ("Testimonies to Ministers," p. 18.)  Then the church will appear "fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners," going forth "into all the world, conquering and to conquer."—"Prophets and Kings," p. 725.

Consequently, "the gold…separated from the dross in the church" ("Testimonies," Vol. 5, p. 81), by the enforcement of the mark of the beast, cannot be the 144,000, the first fruits ("Testimonies to Ministers," p. 445), but rather is the second fruits,—the great multitude of Rev. 7:9,—to whom, after the sealing of the 144,000, will come the test of choosing between the commandments of God and the commandments of men.

The mark of the beast constitutes homage to the image of the beast, in compliance with his commandments, just as the mark of God (Ezek. 9:4, 6) constitutes homage to God, in compliance with His commandments.—5SC1-6:8.16-9.2 [1939]

Carefully note that Paragraph 17 has made a significant glossed over distinction between 1. “winds…when let loose, to blow against the church” (3An:24.2) and 2. the same winds having been previously loosed AFTER the 144,000 are sealed will be allowed to “blow into being the image of the beast” during the enforcement of the iMOB. These two different distinctions are under the control of the angels not the nations.

Paragraph 18 in my opinion is pointing to the immediate future AFTER the sealing but before the purification when God is going to test both the sealed one and those “who do not receive the mark of God” while the tares and wheat are commingled. It is reasonable to believe that one of the last abominations our leaders will commit, will be snared by is to participate, by confederating with Assyria who now bares rule over them, and support the war effort. When Gods faithful take their independent stand (13SC3,4:7, 8 [1940]; 14Tr:44, 45 [1943]; 2TG41:20 [1948]) and oppose politically based on their “religious liberty” (AA:68.2) rooted in the 1st Amendment we shall incur the ire of the country and the church’s opportunity to rid themselves of the malignant hindrance and annoyance of the sealed ones. The prophesied work of “The latter rain” would have fully matured both the tares and the wheat ready for harvest TIME. The difference in character will be night and day and the Esauites in the SDA church will extend their arm to the civil power to execute their brethren. (See: 1SC9:2.6-3.5.) But Jacob shall be saved out of it as described in Paragraph 19.

Page 9.1 delivers one of the most significant blows to the FB strict chronological sequence theory. It categorically states “Consequently, ‘the gold…separated from the dross in the church’…by the enforcement of the mark of the beast CANNOT BE the 144,000, the first fruits…but rather is the second fruits,—the great multitude.…” But when you attempt to apply the theory you come into conflict with this passage here.

Thus the presumptive assertion that the Fundamental Beliefs are sequentially in strict chronological order of fulfillment between No. 4 through 9 violently violates 5SC6-12:9.1 and it fails to harmonize with the SRod. Do we need to go any further based on the high standard of 1SR:13.2?

Our next two references will be examined closely together as they are intimately related.

THE TIME TO SEPARATE THE TARES FROM THE WHEAT

QUESTION NO. 206:

"Christ's Object Lessons," p. 123, says: "When the work of the gospel is completed, then immediately follows the separation between the good and the evil."  Does not the separation here mentioned take place at the second advent?

ANSWER:

Though the passage quoted above has application to the separation at the second advent of Christ, it finds its primary application before the close of probation.  The separation that takes place when Christ comes the second time, is His taking the saints to Heaven with Him (John 14:3; 1 Thess. 4:17), and leaving the wicked dead here on earth (2 Thess. 2:8).  In this way His second coming does bring about a physical separation.  But the separation that takes place before the second advent of Christ is at His invisible coming, when He puts the "sheep" to His right, and the "goats" to His left (Matt. 25:32, 33; 13:30; Rev. 18:4; Matt. 13:48).

In "Early Writings" we read: "I saw the saints leaving the cities and villages, and associating together in companies, and living in the most solitary places.  Angels provided them food and water, while the wicked were suffering from hunger and thirst.  Then I saw the leading men of the earth consulting together, and Satan and his angels busy around them.  I saw a writing, copies of which were scattered in different parts of the land, giving orders that unless the saints should yield their peculiar faith, give up the Sabbath, and observe the first day of the week, the people were at liberty after a certain time, to put them to death.  But in this hour of trial the saints were calm and composed, trusting in God, and leaning upon His promise that a way of escape would be made for them.  In some places, before the time for the decree to be executed, the wicked rushed upon the saints to slay them; but angels in the form of men of war fought for them.  Satan wished to have the privilege of destroying the saints of the Most High; but Jesus bade His angels watch over them.  God would be honored by making a covenant with those who had kept His law, in the sight of the heathen round about them; and Jesus would be honored by translating, without their seeing death, the faithful, waiting ones who had so long expected Him."—"Early Writings," pp. 282, 283.

The fact that the saints were prophetically seen in companies by themselves before the second coming of Christ, again proves that the separation between saint and sinner takes place before His appearing.  The separation that is effected by Christ's second coming, however, is still greater, in that the saints are taken up to heaven, and the wicked left down on earth.

THE TIME TO LET THE WINDS LOOSE

QUESTION NO. 207:

If the angel who seals the firstfruits (the 144,000), continues the sealing of the second fruits (the great multitude—Revelation 7:9), will the four angels be holding the four winds (Rev. 7:1) throughout the sealing of both fruits?

ANSWER:

As Revelation 7:14 says that the great multitude (the second fruits) "came out of great tribulation," it is therefore conclusive that the four winds will be held only until the servants of God (the 144,000) are sealed, and that when the winds are loosed and blowing, then will the great multitude be gathered and sealed—thus coming out of "great tribulation," a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time."  Dan. 12:1.—6SC1-6:12.13-13.5 [1940]

6SC1-6:13.4, 5 is same as 9Tr:58.1: "…they shall prosper wherever they go with the message, although they [an 144,000] are sent with it [a message to proclaim]

WHEN the Winds Are Loosed and Blowing.

—9Tr:58.1

Addressing 6SC1-6:13.4, 5 and 9Tr:58.1 first, how were the 144,000 prospering before they were sent? By being faithful during the fainter cry period (1An:83; 1Srp:10.2) while the message was restricted to Laodicea only. Therefore AFTER the sealing period (the time to become eligible: 2Tr:23) expires the SRod message sealed (2Tr:23) 144,000 and the winds were loosed only (14Tr:24.2). Then the 144,000 continue to preach now broader and wider while “the chariot” was still hitched with the Grisled horses by giving the Jonah message to the whole world and opposing the confederacy (2TG41:19, 20) while still sighing and crying BEFORE the winds were “loosed and blowing.” But they are sent with the SRod message WHEN the winds are loosed and blowing (9Tr:58.4) to gather the second fruits.

To address 6SC1-6:12.13-13.3 we should understand that page 13.1 is applicable to “the TIME to separate the tares from the wheat”…“at His invisible coming” while the following paragraph 2 of the same page is describing the TIME to separate the wheat from the tares among the second fruits. Page 13.2 encompasses the decree to “observe the first day of the week.”

WHAT IS THE GREAT AND DREADFUL DAY OF THE LORD?

Question No. 236:

Is the great and dreadful day of the Lord the same event as the second coming of Christ?

Answer:

As seen from Malachi 4:5, the great and dreadful day of the Lord comes as the result of the proclamation of the message of Elijah the prophet.  Thus rather than being Christ's second appearing, it is obviously on the one hand His setting His seal upon the forehead of the righteous (Rev. 14:1; 7:9) and bringing His judgments, "the wrath of the Lamb," upon the wicked (Rev. 6:15-17); and on the other hand Satan's warring against the remnant (Rev. 12:17).

This conflict between God and Satan brings in the time of trouble such as never was, at the beginning of which Michael stands to deliver "every one that shall be found written in the book."  Dan. 12:1.  It is "the great and dreadful day of the Lord"—"great" for the righteous, "dreadful" for the wicked.  Once it begins, it continues, as the Spirit of Prophecy says, without respite to the end—Christ's second appearing.  (see Testimonies to Ministers, p. 182.)—7SC7-12:19.1-3 [1941]

This might be one of the most abused references when it is used to prop up the theory that the 144,000 is the remnant being referred to on page 19.2. Yet Bro. Houteff in this very same 7SC7-12 on page 9 just finished updating who the Remnant of Rev. 12:17 is. (See: 7SC7-12:9.6-11.) The “conflict between God and Satan” is felt when God spares the righteous by marking them AT the time of separation and Satan’s flood is destroyed. “This conflict…brings in the TIME of trouble such as never was, AT the beginning of which Michael Stands to deliver.…” This deliverance is being placed once again during the Assyrian Confederacy which is AT the COMMENCEMENT of the Great and dreadful day of the Lord

And to make sure we do not mistakenly misconstrue and divorce the TIME of the “special seal” (the mark) being placed upon the foreheads with the actual TIME of the fulfilment of the EVENT of “The Great and Dreadful Day of the Lord” we quote the following passage from 3An:88.1 [1944]

That the Sabbath and consequently all the other commandments are perpetual, to be kept even hereafter, anyone can easily see from the following scriptures: "And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before Me, saith the Lord." Isa. 66:23. And looking forward to the time of "the great and dreadful day of the Lord," the time just ahead of us, the Lord admonishes the people who will be living at that time: "Remember ye the law of Moses My servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments." Mal. 4:4.—3An:88.1

Behold I Make All Things New
Published in 1942

To appreciate and understand the distinction VTH makes in the immediate context of

When the Winds Are Loosed and Blowing

On page 58, 59 it will be necessary for us to read from page 40-71. We should read from
SETTING UP HIS KINGDOM.”—40.3 to
A Summary of the First and Second Fruits.”—71.1. This period of interpretation should reveal the matter.

Before you read I need you to pay special notice of the “out of order” sequence Bro. Houteff is guided to interpret this subject “BEHOLD I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW” from the scriptures. Just observing the different topics in the CONTENTS section on page 2A and 2B you MUST confess that these subjects will not be fulfilled in the order they are written down. Is that not correct? This is and will be an exercise to value book reading over and against detrimental, myopic sentence reading.

Note that those who escape the slaughter of the Lord are sent to proclaim His fame and to show forth His glory among the Gentiles. "They shall bring all" their "brethren for an offering unto the Lord out of all nations." They shall, in other words, preach "this gospel of the kingdom…in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." Matt. 24:14. This great work, which no others have ever been able to accomplish, these escaped ones will, because

In Their Mouth Is Found No Guile.

The fact that the 144,000 are without guile in their mouths shows that, as servants of God, they have a message to proclaim, and that they are to be found blameless in their proclaiming of it: speaking the truth and nothing but the truth, they shall prosper wherever they go with the message, although they are sent with it

When the Winds Are Loosed and Blowing.

The angels' holding back the winds AT the four corners of the earth denotes that they are holding back some world-wide trouble which, should it break out while the church is in her Laodicean condition, would block the sealing.  And from this fact, it follows that immediately after the 144,000 are sealed, the trouble will begin, signalizing the angels' loosing the winds. //  With this trouble "such as never was since there was a nation" (Dan. 12:1), the great multitude is to be brought face to face while being called out of Babylon (Rev. 18:4) into the kingdom.

This time of trouble is foreshadowed by the present trouble which the church is bringing upon the first fruits, those who are being sealed, marked, in her midst, to be removed to the kingdom — the barn (Matt. 13:30), the vessels (Matt. 13:48).

Consequently, as the making of the image of the beast (Rev. 13:11-18) is, in prophecy, the only world-wide event of this kind, and as the great multitude with palms in their hands come out of great tribulation, the only logical conclusion is that after the 144,000 are sealed, and while the winds are blowing, the second fruits will be gathered and the work of the gospel closed.

The trouble will burst forth as the two-horned beast decrees "that no man might buy or sell, save he that [has] the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name of the beast, or the number of his name." Rev. 13:17. Thus will the dragon be "wroth with the woman" and "make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ." Rev. 12:17. And at the same time the angels will be allowed to hurt all who trouble the church of God, and who attempt to join it in the same way as the tares now do. In thus hurting the wicked, the angels execute "the wrath of the Lamb." In view of this, the Lord asks, "who shall be able to stand?" Rev. 6:17. It is "the great and dreadful day of the Lord" (Mal. 4:5), and "the sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites." Hence the questions: "Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?"—Only those who see themselves in need of everything. And these are

The Ones Who See the King.

—9Tr:57.2-58 [1942]

Who is the “they are sent”? The 144,000, AFTER the tares are removed and they have been simultaneously delivered from the death decree during the Assyrian period (14Tr:18.1). When are they sent? “WHEN the winds are loosed and blowing.” What does it mean “WHEN the winds are loosed and blowing”? It means that before the winds were “loosed and blowing” they were ONLY loosed. This is after the 144,000 were sealed by the sealing message (2Tr:23) but BEFORE the tares are removed. Then After the fall of Assyria (2SR:151) and the kingdom is set up, then the 144,000 will be sent from Mt. Zion “WHEN the winds are loosed and blowing” which means AT the time when the SCB is mounted by the Woman. This means that this specific portion of remaining probationary TIME will transition from a “time of trouble” into the “time of trouble such as never was.” So that this “loosed and blowing” is and has always been equivalent to the time of the enforcement of the iMOB. Whereas the loosing of the winds AFTER the sealing of the 144,000 by the message could not.

We have already established that the SRod message seals 144,000 (2Tr:23). What takes place next? The test whether to join the confederacy to go to war or to oppose it comes upon the penitent and the impenitent (5SC6-12:8.18) SDA. After the 144,000 pass this test and oppose they are sealed and the winds are loosed (13SC3,4:10.2). This is the only thing it could mean by “the trouble will begin” (9Tr:58.2) as soon as the 144,000 are sealed. This could not be the iMOB because the 144,000 are sealed “in the days of these kings” during the Assyrian period. (See: 5SC6-12:9.1.) This is the same trouble described in 2TG7:3.1. Thus we see that there can be no other test (5SC6-12:8.18) for the 144,000 before the Assyrian yoke (14Tr:17, 18, 45) is removed at the time of the purification of the church takes place (14Tr:18.3, 4). Observe the second following sentence of 9Tr:58.2 is but a continuation of the time of the time of trouble (2TG7:3.1). Continuing, “With this trouble ‘such as never was since there was a nation’ ” is referring to the TIME “the great multitude is to be brought face to face while being called out of Babylon (Rev. 18:4) into the kingdom [2TG7:10.4].”

WHEN WILL THE WINDS BE LOOSED?

Question No. 46:

If the angel who seals the first fruits, the 144,000, goes right on with the sealing of the second fruits, the great multitude (Rev. 7:9), will the four angels be holding the four winds (Rev. 7:1) throughout the sealing of both fruits?

Answer:

As Revelation 7:14 says that the great multitude (the second fruits) "came out of great tribulation," it is conclusive that the four winds will be held, as the angel commanded, "till we have sealed the servants of our God.…" Rev. 7:3. The winds, therefore, are loosed and blowing after the 144,000 are sealed and while the great multitude is being gathered and sealed. Thus only can it be said that the multitude came out of "great tribulation," out of "a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time." Dan. 12:1.

WHAT IS THE ANGER OF THE NATIONS?

Question No. 47:

"I saw," says Sister White, "that the anger of the nations, the wrath of God, and the time to judge the dead, were separate and distinct, one following the other, also that Michael had not stood up, and that the time of trouble, such as never was, had not yet commenced."—"Early Writings," p. 36. Could this "anger of the nations" be the "battle of Armageddon"?

Answer:

While the vision makes plain that the first three events (the judgment of the dead the anger of the nations, and the wrath of God) follow one another in consecutive order, occupying three separate, distinct, and successive periods, it does not clear the time of the fourth event—Michael's standing up.

The wrath of God, as commonly understood, is the seven last plagues (Rev. 15:1), and is visited during the period between the close of probation and the second coming of Christ. The judgment of the dead, as understood by at least all Adventists, covers two periods: the first in probationary time, immediately preceding the judgment of the living, and the second during the millennium. So with God's wrath coming in the period from the close of probation to the second coming of Christ, the anger of the nations can only take place during the time of the judgment of the living—during the Loud Cry of the Third Angel's Message.

The anger of the nations cannot therefore be the Armageddon, for it takes place in the time of the sixth plague (Rev. 16:12-16), in the wrath-of-God period. The anger of the nations and the wrath of God are, as we must ever keep in mind, two "separate and distinct" events, "one following  the other."

Accordingly, rather than being the Armageddon,  the anger of the nations is the "time of trouble such as never was"—the time in which Michael, taking the "reins in His own hands" (Testimonies to Ministers, p. 300), stands up to deliver "every one that shall be found written in the book." Dan. 12:1.

As the anger of the nations is in the time of the judgment of the living,—the Loud Cry of the Third Angel's Message,—the "anger" is obviously directed against God's people, not against the nations themselves. Obvious is this fact, because the nations among themselves have always been angry, and are angry even today, although we are still in the time of the judgment of the dead.

"The anger of the nations" will follow upon the two-horned beast's decree "that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed" (Rev. 13:15); at the same time the notorious woman, Babylon the Great, will ride the scarlet-colored beast (Rev. 17) and rule the nations. This "same crisis will come up on our people in all parts of the world."—Testimonies, Vol. 6, p. 395.

Concerning this anger of the nations, the world-wide confederacy against those who refuse  to worship the beast and his image, the Lord predicted through the prophet Zechariah: "And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it." Zech. 12:3.

"In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the Lord before them." Zech. 12:8. Then "clad in the armor of Christ's righteousness," declares the Spirit of Prophecy, "the church is to enter upon her final conflict. 'Fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners,' she is to go forth into all the world, conquering and to conquer."—Prophets and Kings, p. 725.

"Those who have been timid and self-distrustful, will declare themselves openly for Christ and His truth. The most weak and hesitating in the church, will be as David—willing to do and dare."—Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 81.

"Only those who have withstood temptation in the strength of the Mighty One will be permitted to act a part in proclaiming it [the Third Angel's Message] when it shall have swelled into the loud cry."—The Review and Herald, No. 19, 1908.—2An:90.3-94.2 [1944]

Because these two questions are intimately related we are examining them together. Let us observe whether VTH makes a distinction between the winds “loosed” different from “loosed and blowing.” I’m reminded based on 2An:91.1 that it will be equally crucial in order for us to form a harmonious informed opinion on the previous difference to also learn to acknowledge the distinct differences between “a time of trouble” from “the time of trouble such as never was…” We’ve already made a list of every reference where the SRod interprets these. Go through them prayerfully and make the determination, if you haven’t done so already, to see whether these distinctions made were either true or false.

THE FOUR WINDS—WHAT ARE THEY?

Question No. 53:

"Testimonies to Ministers," p. 444, states: John sees the elements of nature--earthquake, tempest, and political strife--represented as being held by four angels." But Tract No. 8, "Mt. Sion at the Eleventh Hour," p. 22, says: "As the nations have always been at war, this twofold work of hurting could not represent political strife." How are these contradictory statements reconciled?

Answer:

We are confident that if the questioner will carefully restudy Testimonies to Ministers p. 444, he will see that it is endeavoring to show that the Divine object in holding back the winds, is, as the passage plainly says, "the safety of God's church." That being the case, then the winds, themselves being figurative of strife, trouble, and war, are, \1/ when let loose, to blow against the church. This is very evident because their being held from John's day until this very hour, has never prevented and is not now preventing the nations' warring among themselves. Always have they been at war with one another, and today they are engaged in a deadly world-wide conflict unparalleled in all history, although the angels are still holding the winds. Of necessity, therefore, the strife represented by the blowing of the winds, must be essentially religious in aim, and political only in procedure, thus religious-political, as stated in Tract No. 12, The World Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow, pp. 38, 65, and in The Shepherd's Rod, Vol. 2, p. 114. This conclusion is borne out in the following passage:

"The TIME is coming when we cannot sell at any price. \2/ The decree will soon go forth prohibiting men to buy or sell of ANY man save him that hath the mark of the beast. We came near having this realized in California a short time since; but this was only the threatening of the blowing of the four winds. As yet they are held by the four angels. We are not just ready. There is a work yet to be done, and then the angels will be bidden to let go, that the four winds may blow upon the earth. That will be a decisive time for God's children,—a time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation."—Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 152.

The tract, in its particular statement in question, is stressing only the religious aspect of the trouble, in the endeavor to show that the trouble is not political in aim,—not to conquer territory, but to build up international religion in order to compel the world to worship the image of the beast.

In this clear light, we see that both Testimonies to Ministers and The Shepherd's Rod series are endeavoring to show that the strife is neither purely political nor purely religious, but religious-political. It is the church and state allied in common action.—3An:24-25 [1944]

Here is another excellent interpretation of the symbolic meaning of “the winds themselves” represents. The same found in 9Tr:52.5; 2SR:161.1 and 8Tr:22. They are “figurative of strife, trouble, and war.” However, the continued distinction of these winds of Revelation 7 from others is their intended target WHEN the aim is against the true people of God in His church AT the TIME of harvest. So that \1/ on page 24.2 is referring to the “time of trouble” AFTER the 144,000 are sealed and \2/ on page 25.1 is referring to “trouble such as never was” during the TIME of harvest. “…Church and state allied in common action” will be experienced by the 144,000 “firstfruits” AFTER the winds are loosed and when the Assyrian Confederacy is formed while antitypical Jacob is in his sin denoting name. And the second fruits will experience the same during the Babylonian church and state confederacy. Vindicating “…that the close of probation for the church and the one for the world are two different events.  The former is a miniature representation of the latter.”—2SR:186

“When let loose” takes place during the Assyrian period AFTER the limitation the Bible placed on this occasion. ”Till we have sealed the servants of God…” Rev. 7:3. (2An:91.1.) Now if this is the occasion when the winds are just “loosed,” will the iMOB be instituted immediately while Assyria [the two-horned beast, a.k.a. KON] is at war in the Middle East? No. It could not at this TIME. Why not? Because the Woman cannot, after the winds are loosed only, immediately ride the SCB before she sits upon all seven heads and BEFORE the false prophet comes on the stage of action. This is the reason why the winds loosed doctrinally described in the additional fundamental belief No. 5 should never be misconstrued to represent the iMOB decree. Therefore, to blow in this context, must be referring to the Esauites Confederated with Assyria intending and supporting the death decree [14Tr:18.1] against the Jacobites. This is the First “the church and state allied in common action” (see: 14TR:37). This is the 1st death decree (COL:412.1; 14Tr:18.1; 5Tr:73.3, 4, 77.3; 2SC7,8:11.8-12.1; 12SC2:5.1; 11-12.2; 13SC3,4:7-9; 1TG22:23-26.1; 1TG28:15.1-5; 2TG41:13.1-3; 6SC1-6:13.1-3; 12SC2:14.1; 2Ans:39-42.1; 1Srp:36) against the dissidents in the SDA Church (14Tr:29.2-30.2). AT the appointed TIME (Mal. 3:3) death flees first from the sealed Jacobites but falls upon the unsealed Esauites confederated with Assyria. Assyria loses the war against her mortal enemy, and loses dominion over Jerusalem (14Tr:25) as God establishes the kingdom. Thus at this time the “Assyrian yoke” (14Tr:3, 4, 17, 18) is broken off Judah (14Tr:21.2).

Then Death Decree No. 2. After the kingdom is established, is for the great multitude when the M.O.B. will be enforced in the period of Babylon. (15Tr:61.2. 2SR:110.2; 8Tr:58.1; 12Tr:26.2; 2TG14:18.2; 2TG17:11.1; 2SC2:4.10; 3Ans:70.3; FuD:13.1)

(This sermon selected for this issue of The Symbolic Code was delivered by Bro. V.T. Houteff on July 20, 1946).

Again it will be important to read from page 6-17 to get a contextual picture of the subject under investigation before reading the portion we are interested in. The focus is not necessarily the subject that is being treated but to identify with VTH if indeed there is a distinction made between the winds “loosed” from “loosed and blowing.

In Revelation 12 we have a description of the dragon at the time Christ was born.  He had seven heads and ten horns, signifying that all the kingdoms (10 horns) of the world and all religions (7 heads) were serving the dragon.  Had he not conquered the Jewish church, too, he could not have had seven heads.  When the dragon conquered the Jewish church—God's people at that time, that gave him seven heads.  The very fact that the Jews were the ones who had Christ crucified furnished the evidence that the Bible correctly pictured them exactly where they were—with the dragon.  Seeing then that the Devil had all the religions of the earth and all the kingdoms of the earth, represented by the 7 heads and 10 crowned horns on his head, then how much was not the Devil's?—It was all his.  This being true then for God's true individual people within the church the earth had indeed become a bottomless pit, a prison house.  There was only one way of escape for them and that was for the Star to come down from heaven and open the pit.  That being true, then whom do the locusts represent?—The Christians. The fifth trumpet, therefore, sounded when Christ came nearly 2,000 years ago.  We find ourselves therefore living in the period of the sounding of the fifth trumpet—the Christian period—before the sounding of the sixth trumpet.

But now in this period before the sixth angel sounds his trumpet, some men are to seek death and they will not find it, and would desire to die and death would flee from them.  They just could not die, for they would be immune to death.  Since we understand that the Lord is going to find a living church besides those righteous who are lying in the graves then from that also we can easily conclude that if these people during the fifth trumpet could not die, then they will live through the sixth trumpet, too, and never die.

To find out what will make these men immune to death, we shall refer to Revelation 7.  I doubt that we need to read the chapter, because everyone of us is so well acquainted with it that we can almost quote it verse by verse.  You recall that there were four angels stationed on the four corners of the earth, and they [the four angels] were to hold the winds from blowing on the earth and the sea and the trees until the servants the 144,000, are sealed, for when the winds are loosed they [the four angels] will hurt.  After they [the 144,000] receive the seal, though, the winds will blow but they [the four angels] will not hurt the sealed ones for they [the 144,000] have received perfect and absolute protection from all harm.…—12SC2:7.2-8 [1946]

This last and final reading of 9 associated passages singles out the first set of men to become immune to death are harvested from the SDA Church. Fact: 144,000 Jacobites before their name is changed receive a special seal that prevents them from dying. The sealing angel does not just continue sealing after the 144,000th member. He reports back to Christ first. Then Christ commands him to take coals from off the altar and thus the 144,000 receive the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in power. If read carefully the first “they” in the third sentence on page 8.2 is referring to the four angels. The second “they” in the same sentence is again referring to the four angels. Why? If you placed the winds in that position with the current misconstruing that the winds represents the “Sunday Law” would you believe that the 144,000 could be hurt AFTER they are sealed and protected? But the sentence reveals something gets hurt after the winds were loosed. As has been already established the winds are loosed during the Assyrian period. But the ONLY “hurt” that will be realized will be by the angels AFTER the winds are loosed against the church. So that death flees from the sealed ones coming from the “four winds” while death finds the unsealed ones coming from the “four angels” given the command to hurt the unsealed wicked in the church. The third “they” refers to the 144,000. The fourth “they” refers to the “four angels” and the fifth and last “they” to “the 144,000.”

This of course is the long way although along the way we have had to learn new discoveries while unlearning twice as much from assumptions and from misconstruing what inspiration reveals.

Conclusion:

We have examined and learned whether the SRod message or the angel seals 144,000 by being obedient to 1SR:13.2 and 3SC1:11.1 to harmonize and reconcile the apparent incompatibility. That the Mountain Dale traditional position did not have a completely wrong position but only had half of it correct. We have learned to beware of the evil false dilemma fallacy and how it is being deployed to steer you away from truth into the wrong theoretical direction. In the case of

1.      “What is the sealing?”

[the short crash course version] both options are actually true but not in the same way, nor at the same time. The invaluable lesson of allowing the Bible to have the preeminence gave us great tools to examine just as carefully

2.      “What is a ‘time of trouble’?”

We learned that the trouble in Dan. 12:1 represents the TIME of harvest and it has two sections. One AT the COMMENCEMENT of the harvest and the other during harvest TIME. Indeed 2TG7:3.1 has its place AFTER the sealing message seals 144,000 but before the tares are removed and Assyria falls. And the “time of trouble such as never was” applies to WHEN the wheat shall be removed from among the tares in Babylon. Lastly to verify that the first two were not flukes we laid down the third leg of this tripod that answers the question

3.      “Does the winds ‘loosed’ mean something different from ‘loosed and blowing’?”

Before examining critically the places in the SRod message that justifies two separate beliefs (FB No. 5 and No. 6) we did a thorough search of what they both shared in common, “four winds.” All 78 times where “winds” are being used in the context of Rev. 7:1 were recorded. They were listed in the chronological order of their revelation. We also learned that the “four winds” themselves do not represent per say as commonly taught the “Sunday law” but the nations themselves seeking to hurt the church before it is clad in the armor of Christ righteousness and protected by “a special seal.” Thus the true meaning of what the “four winds” of Rev. 7:1 is found in four references: 1. 9Tr:52.5; 2. 2SR:161.1; 3. 8Tr:22; 4. 3Ans. 24.2. We learned and affirmed that there are two Church and State unions. One Before Ezek. 9 where "the churches incompletely confederate" (2SC7,8:12.3) and the other After the SDA Church is purified, the churches completely confederated (1SC5:8.3, 4; 13SC3,4:10.2), while the great multitude is being gathered. We also learned that the “four angels” of Rev. 7:2 will hurt first in the SDA Church after the winds are loosed AFTER the 144,000 are sealed.

To address the first question asked after this body of evidence from three perspectives, “Are the Fundamental Beliefs written in Chronological order?” The answer would be a resounding no. AFB No. 4 could not take place before No. 5. The four winds are loosed first before the tares are removed. AFB No. 6 takes place AFTER the kingdom, AFB No. 9, is set up. AFB No. 8 takes place immediately after the purification of the SDA Church in No. 4. If you desired to understand them really in order based on the weight of evidence they make the most sense:

P.S. *

Why FB No. 4 could not take place before No. 5? Because the four winds are loosed first before the tares are removed.

Proof:

If the present World War is THE one predicted by Nahum, and if the sealing or marking of the "servants of God" is to be completed WITHOUT the angels' having again to tighten their hold on the winds (Rev. 7:1, Early Writings, p. 38), then the time to restore the excellency of Jacob and of Israel is at hand.  At long last has come the hour for Zion's deliverance from Gentile bondage, and for her children to return to the land of their fathers (Ezek. 36:23-38), the vineyard of the Lord of hosts.…—14Tr:24.2

"Many are tempted in regard to our work, and are calling it in question.  Some in their tempted condition charge the difficulties and perplexities of the people of God to the testimonies of reproof that we have given them.  They think the trouble is with the ones who bear the message of warning, who point out the sins of the people and correct their errors.  Many are deceived by the adversary of

Vol. 1 Shepherd's Rod book 251

souls....They think that the people of God are not in need of plain dealing and of reproof, but that God is with them....What disposition will these make of the message of the True Witness to the Laodiceans?  There can be no deception here.  This message must be borne to a lukewarm church by God's servants.  It must arouse his people from their security and dangerous deception in regard to their real standing before God.  This testimony if received, will arouse to action, and lead to self-abasement and confession of sins...—1SR:251.3

Why FB No. 6 takes place AFTER the kingdom, FB No. 9, is set up?

Answer:

As the symbolical "sea" and "earth," along with the beasts' characteristics, perfectly locate the abode of each beast, likewise

"The Wilderness"
Locates the Scarlet-Colored Beast's Domain {12Tr:40.3}

By contrast, a wilderness IS the opposite of a vineyard.  And since a vineyard is figurative of the home of God's people (Isa. 5:7), the wilderness can ONLY represent the

12 Tract 40

home of the Gentiles.  The beast's being in the wilderness indicates that AT the TIME it [[ the Scarlet-Colored Beast's Domain ]] comes into existence, there IS a vineyard.  Obviously, it would be superfluous to designate "the wilderness" if the whole world is wilderness.—12Tr:40.3, 4

In Daniel 7, this same prophecy of the world's history is repeated in symbols of beasts.  The kings represented by the toes of the great image are this time represented by ten horns of the "fourth" and "non-descript" beast in verse 7.  The reason for the duplicate is to bring the truth of the little horn (papal power, verse 8).  The ten horns (kings) are repeated again in Rev. 13:1, to point out the TIME of the prophecy as explained by Daniel,—"in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom."—1SR:211.1  (1930)

"In the days of THESE kings [not AFTER, but IN the days of the kings who are symbolized by the feet and toes of the great image] shall the God of heaven," says Daniel, calling attention to the kingdom at its beginning, "set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people but it [the kingdom] shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever." Dan. 2:44.  Thus we see that while the nations of our age (symbolized by the feet and toes of the great image of Daniel 2:41, 42) are yet in existence, the Lord will set up the kingdom with which He will overthrow them.  Then it shall be said: "The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign for ever and ever." Rev. 11:15.—9Tr:42.2  (1942)

"Who are symbolized by the feet and toes of the great image," is it the SCB or is it some other kings from another beast?

Can somebody help me?

Speak to me Brethren? Which Prophet taught me what is being quoted proving to you that the FB is not in strict chronological order?

The trouble lies in the fact that the questioner draws for these events a prescribed line that is altogether too narrowly confined to time, that is, taking for granted that because the time of trouble is to be in the time of the plagues, it could not commence before.  Then, too, a large proportion of what he read in the publications in question must not be taken as an absolute time-prophecy of the events mentioned,…—3SC1:10.8

Our subject for this afternoon is found in Daniel, chapters 11 and 12.  Chapter 12 contains the "time of trouble," but the time of the "time of trouble" is FOUND in the eleventh chapter of Daniel.  The twelfth chapter is, of course, a continuation of the eleventh chapter.…—2TG7:3.1

Why FB No. 8 takes place immediately after the purification of the SDA Church in No. 4?

Answer:

THE CHURCH'S LIBERATION FROM "ASSYRIAN" YOKE. {14Tr:17.1}

     Nahum 1:12, 13. "Thus saith the Lord; Though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through.  Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.  For now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder." {14Tr:17.2}

     This person ("thee") whom the Lord has already chastened, obviously cannot be the Assyrian king or nation aforementioned, because the Lord is delivering this one, while He is beating the Assyrians to their knees at the hands of him "that dasheth in pieces."  Just who this third character ("thee") here introduced may be, is immediately established by Isaiah in his correlative prophecy concerning this same Assyria: {14Tr:17.3}

     "And it shall come to pass in that day," declares the prophet, "that his [Assyria's] burden shall be taken away from off thy [Judah's] shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing." Isa. 10:27. {14Tr:17.4}

14 Tract 17

     Immediately we see that in the revealing light of this scripture, the one ("thee") who, in both cases, is set FREE in the TIME of Assyria's fall, proves to be the church (Judah) liberated from Gentile (Assyrian) rule.  Conclusively, therefore, Isaiah clarifies Nahum's prophecy as referring to the church's liberation from the last-day Assyrian yoke.  The fact, though, that the church, as Nahum says, is not only to be relieved from affliction and freed from bondage but is also to be sentenced to death (Nah. 1:14), creates a paradox!  Inspiration, however, quickly clears it, again through Isaiah.  Speaking of the church, he declares: {14Tr:18.1}

     "And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto My chosen: for the Lord God shall slay thee, and call His servants by another name." Isa. 65:15. {14Tr:18.2}

     Plainly, therefore, in the TIME WHEN Assyria crumbles, the Lord is to perform a dual work among His professed people, some of whom will be made free because of their faithfulness, and some of whom will be slain because of their wickedness.  The delivered ones will THEN be called by another name. {14Tr:18.3}

The time of this "work" is termed "harvest." Matt. 13:30.  Therefore, up to this separation, the tares (those who are to be slain) and the wheat (those who are to be delivered) together comprise the

14 Tract 18

membership of Laodicea (the last of the seven churches—Rev. 3:14-18), the church just before the "tares" are forever separated from the "wheat" (Matt. 13:30).  Very obviously, then, the penitent Laodiceans are separated from the impenitent ones during Assyria's fall, and then are liberated from her rule.—14Tr:17.1-18.4

"It is written," "thus saith the Lord God."

The thoughts presented, here a little and there a little, will have their influence.—LEV:76.3
