Understanding the additional Fundamental Beliefs - (a)
part 1 of 4
2 TG
10:28-31 the additional 15 fundamental beliefs of the Davidian Association held
are published. The word chronology, chronological nor the phrase “in order” to indicate a strict sequence
of listed events are absent. However, if we desire to understand these itemized
events sequentially then they serve best to be understood in a thematic
chronology.
1st
Theme: Revelation of Truth
The first 3
fundamental beliefs are about “the prophetic gift” and its remanifestation
since 1930 as related subjects to each other. (Revelation of Truth) [2TG10:28.3-29.2]
2nd
Theme: Probation first closes for the
SDA Church
The next 3
fundamental beliefs, 4 - 6 deal with “the purification of the
church,” “Michael’s standing up,” which associates with “letting loose the four
winds to blow.” (Probation first closes for the church) [2TG10:29.3-5]
3rd
Theme: Deliverance first of the Saints in
the SDA Church
The next 3
fundamental beliefs, 7 - 9 deal with “the time of Jacob’s
trouble,” the result of their deliverance has “their names changed” which in
turn results “in the setting up of the kingdom.” Notice how all of these three
related subjects are associated together. (Deliverance of the Saints in the
church) [2TG10:30.1-3]
4th
Theme: Deliverance of the Saints
in the World
The next 3
fundamental beliefs, 10 - 12 deal with the proclamation of “the
Loud Cry” or the everlasting gospel which “nations” will respond to and when
“the Voice will cease.” (Deliverance of the Saints in the world) [2TG10:30.4-7]
5th
Theme: The punishment of the Wicked in the
World
The last 3
fundamental beliefs, 13 - 15 deal with the destruction “of the
world-wide organization of the image of the beast,” their audacity to fight
back in “the battle of Armageddon” only to be destroyed. And that “after the millennium”
these same wicked are brought back for their final reward. (The punishment of
the wicked) [2TG10:31]
How can we
harmonize all references to bare upon the subject of Jacob’s Time of Trouble?
Only when we accept these 5 sets of 3 sequentially associated fundamental
beliefs with each other within their respective set. Finally, with this key in
hand we can do justice to the words “immediately,” “subsequently” and “sequence
of events.” Should a Davidian choose to disregard the organized facts presented
herein thus far and attempt to itemize strictly one belief following another
that person will be hard pressed to prove now a strange doctrine; that
fundamental belief No. 6 indeed is fulfilled before No. 7 supported by
references somewhere else in the Rod. They need to show that Bro. Houteff
teaches that the Sunday law is enforced internationally before the purified
church receives her name change, and before they enter the kingdom. This type
of situation is paralleled by the chapters of the book of Revelation. The
chapters were not itemized numerically by the contents of their revelation. We
should not create a private chronology from these enumerated tenants of fundamental
beliefs while disregarding the whole tenor of the Rod. To do so is to create
violence within the writings. The conflict between the two classes of believers
within “Mother” of the same father is veiled and not readily placed
superficially by the Spirit of Prophecy.
Counsel:
MICHAEL STANDS UP BEFORE OR AFTER PROBATION CLOSES?
The trouble lies in the fact that the
questioner draws for these events a prescribed line that is altogether too narrowly confined to time, that is,
taking for granted that because the time of trouble is to be in the time of the
plagues, it could not commence before. Then, too, a large proportion of what he read
in the publications in question must not be taken as an absolute time-prophecy of the events mentioned, but simply as an
interpretation of Scriptures as they were understood at that time, which
interpretation was based, of course, upon the limited
light then shining on these Scriptures.…Moreover, whatever interpretation
we may place on any statement in reference to any truth, must be in harmony with every other
statement on the subject.—3 SC 1:10.8-11.1
We all agree
that without the first three you cannot
have the other 12 following. Without light we would be totally blind on the
subject. But, the following 9 are not
consequentially “in order.” However, the last
three do follow after the 12 above.
