The Dardanelles…is a narrow, natural strait and internationally significant waterway in northwestern Turkey that forms part of the continental boundary between Europe and Asia, and separates Asian Turkey from European Turkey. One of the world's narrowest straits used for international navigation, the Dardanelles connects the Sea of Marmara with the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas, while also allowing passage to the Black Sea by extension via the Bosphorus. The Dardanelles is 61 kilometres (38 mi) long, and 1.2 to 6 kilometres (0.75 to 3.73 mi) wide, averaging 55 metres (180 ft) deep with a maximum depth of 103 metres (338 ft) at its narrowest point abreast the city of Çanakkale.—Wikipedia.

This is an image and a physical description of what the Dardenelles is. Thus it lends understanding to the coined phrased “The Dardadelles of the Bible.”

Ezekiel’s “revelation of what he saw by the river Chebar is perhaps of greater importance to [1] heaven and [2] earth at this time than is any other vision on sacred record, because in a remarkable way it reveals That Which unites Heaven with Earth, even as the Dardanelles links two important seas.  Thus this study of Ezekiel's vision which brings to light earth's being visited by the Majesty of the Universe, may be aptly termed, ‘The Dardanelles of the Bible.’ ”—1Tr:5.3

Then in the 1941 Edition of Tract one you will notice how Elijah opens the revelation. He creates a Dardanelles narrative by quoting two prophetic realities on opposite sides of each other.

A.)  1Tr:5.4-6.2 is talking and describing God’s approach to earth where Ezekiel is. He witnesses

      1.      A Whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

      2.      The likeness of four living creatures.…likeness of a man…every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.

      3.      The hands of a man under their winds on their four sides.

      4.      The appearance of the bow with the glory of the Lord, and

      5.      “…I heard a voice of one that spake.”

And the next thing quoted is something that could not automatically follow sequentially.…

B.)  1Tr:6.3 The out pouring of the Holy Ghost. Thus, the way Bro. Houteff presents and opens the prophetic aspect of this important revelation is by also creating a natural spiritual gap between these two polar opposite events in time.


Close Study Analysis of the Background History of Tract 1 to the Present

Tract 1-1st Ed. whose focus is the revealing of Ezekiel’s vision leading up to the fulfillment of chapter 9. This is my report. Prove it wrong before you disagree through prejudice and pride of opinion.

p. 3. “The call of Ezekiel” to the prophetic office and his “vision by the river Chebar.” “It foretells the Majesty of the universe visiting the earth for one of the greatest, and ONLY EVENT of its kind in ALL of church history.” He describes the appearance of God’s approach and the vehicle He uses to visit the earth of this occasion. Jesus comes in His travelling throne.

p. 4. “And it came to pass,” that the man clothed with linen at a particular, specific time received audible commands from Jesus when to “take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubims; then he went in, and stood beside the wheels.”

First thing that jumped out at me at this time during this particular reading and making notes we need to be cognizant of the physical gap between these two events. Between page 3.3 and 4.1. Just as “Ezekiel’s vision by the river Chebar may be called the Dardanelles of the Bible, because it prophetically unites heaven with earth in a most remarkable way” likewise this presentation of this revelation contains a sequential a gap. On one side of the gap is the approach and appearance of the Majesty of the Universe and the vehicle He is travelling on and on the opposite side of that same gap is the event of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in which the SDA church professes to be awaiting with longing. What an interesting revealed parallel I had not previously considered which helps me to appreciate the meaning of the name “the Dardanelles.” (See: Acts 20:35)

p. 5.1 – 7 Bro. Houteff Labors over God’s different thrones contained in the Bible. Their distinct details distinguish them apart one from another. The most important of them relevant to this exposé “is to know the place and the mission of the throne of Ezekiel’s vision.” It is confirmed that this throne as the one the Father (Isa. 6) used to travel into the Temple in heaven are capable of movement. He quotes Ezek. 10:20, 19 to show once again its (Ezek. 1:4) capacity to move from the earth to heaven.

p. 8.1 “When will this prophetic Vision be fulfilled?” We are made to understand Ezekiel’s incomprehension of his own vision and inability to attempt to deliver his message to those addressed. The undergoing circumstances of both the “house of Israel” and those of the “house of Judah” were forbidding. The “house of Israel” had been scattered among the nations some years before and “the house of Judah was in captivity in the land of the Chaldeans.” After the vision he was “astonished among them seven days.” (Ezek. 3:15.)

p. 8.2 – 9.1 Ezekiel 9 belongs and is connected to the beginning of this vision and being that the subjects addressed then could not neither understand (because it wasn’t explained) and receive the message it is evident that the message is intended to their descendants and that its fulfillment is yet future.

p. 9.2 – 10 Those who are satisfied with their present spiritual attainment, who are not on the lookout and desirous for truth from the throne of heaven, who allow others to study for them will experience the greatest short coming in their Christian career and lose out on eternity.

p. 11.1 “Object of the Lord Coming in His Throne.” Bro. Houteff returns back beyond the information AFTER the gap (p. 4.1) chronologically across the gap to the information BEFORE the gap (p. 3.3). Being that Ezekiel is witnessing this phenomenon what is it that he witnesses? 1. A “great cloud” coming to earth by a “whirlwind.” 2. “Living creatures.” 3. “Wheels” 4. “the glory of the Lord” and 5. “I heard a voice, of one that spake.” Has anyone noticed something missing from this 1st approach? The 6 angel’s are missing and the instructions they receive at the time of “THE EVENT” [2SC5,6:10.2]. Instead “the Lord came to bring a message to Ezekiel.” This is the fulfillment of Mal. 3:1(a).

p. 11. 2 On this occasion Ezekiel not angels is receiving a message to deliver to God’s people. He describes their condition and the prejudicial resistance he is to confront WHEN he will deliver his message to his people. Eventually all will come to “know that there hath been a prophet among them.” For any who remains rebellious it will be too late.

p. 12.1 If you are still in doubt Bro. Houteff cautions us to carefully note that the message (instructions) Ezekiel receives of the Lord on this visit is for his people ONLY. “For thou are not sent to a people of a strange speech and of a hard language, but to the house of Israel; Not to many people of a strange speech and of hard language whose words thou canst not understand.” (Ezek. 3:5,6.)

p. 12.2 This message is revealed WHEN the time comes to receive it by God’s church “at a very low ebb.” The Laodicean malady satisfies the condition necessary for the revelation and reception of this message of the Lord. “The condemnation against the Laodiceans (Rev. 3:14-18) and the one of Ezekiel (2:1-7; 3:4-7) are exactly alike, which proves that Ezekiel’s vision is the prophecy, and John’s the revelation of the prophecy.”

p. 12.3 Bro. Houteff confirms what the Bible says by affirming what is left on record by the Spirit of Prophecy against the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

p. 13.1 Receive the revelation of Ezekiel’s vision to prevent the hardening of our heart and loosing eternal life. All this interpretation is brought to view BEFORE the gap. The Gap has not been touched yet. Now for those men of responsibility (Davidian under shepherd’s) who desire to defend a cherished private untenable opinion will work their sorcery and will choose to remain ambiguous, nebulous, and confusing and those whom they have influence over at their own peril.

p. 13.2 “At What Time May God’s People Be In Such a Deplorable Condition?” Bro. Houteff begins to contrast between the church’s current condition at the time of Ezekiel’s revelation and the impossibility for the church to be found like that after probation closes. Beyond that this condition furthermore inhibits the work it needs to do for the Lord in the world before probation closes.  Here is also another reason why at this visit to the earth by the Lord would be impossible for the work of “the sealing” angel to commence. The whole church is at a low ebb at this time when the message is first revealed. This deplorable condition precludes the work of sealing/marking to commence prematurely. Thus, “the sealing” message and “the sealing” angel are not one and the same thing at the same time EVER. This is a divine FACT that must be acknowledged.

p. 14.1 If God is holding back fulfilling John 10:16 then Bro. Houteff interprets that the message has a work to do to counteract its Laodicean “lukewarm” condition. The message and NOT the angel with the writer’s inkhorn is to cause “a special work” to occur “before He can finish His work upon earth.”

p. 14.2 Thus while the IJOD is taking place in heaven where Jesus is currently interceding AFTER he delivered the message to Ezekiel, and standing before the Father in the Most Holy place “there is to be a special work of purification [through obedience to the SRod message: Revival], of putting away of sin [Reformation], among God’s people upon earth.” While “the sealing” message is striving to circulate throughout Laodicea is the time to put on the robe of Christ’s righteousness permanently.

p. 15.1 Here the phrase “the purification” is contextually interpreted as the “time” [at the COMMENCEMENT of the “Loud Cry.”] of the separation [seven days]. Yet, in the previous paragraph (p. 14.2) “a special work of purification” is not referring to the slaughter or at the “commencement of the ‘loud cry’” but rather the work “the sealing” message must do to cause a true revival and reformation. Oh, that we would begin to learn to respect the distinction by the details the Prophet establishes even though similar words are used. The Context means everything to us.

p. 15.2 This is the first time Bro. Houteff reveals information within the gap just as the Dardanelles on earth creates. Notice that this occurs chronologically AFTER “the sealing” message has done its work of creating a revived and reformed condition when the church was first at a low ebb. Now as the vision “continues” “he saw the Lord come to the entrance of the church and give charge to His angels.” Note carefully that at this visit God did not come to Ezekiel with “the sealing” message BUT He comes for a different purpose with “the sealing” angel. This is the time for the seal/mark to be placed upon the foreheads of those who are found sighing and crying. There is nothing in the next 33 pages that will change these three revealed categories

        1.      “the Sealing” message comes and creates

        2.      “the Sealing” [probationary] time to reform in order to be “eligible” to receive

        3.      “the sealing” angel’s seal/mark to escape “THE EVENT” of the slaughter in Jerusalem.

p. 16 This work of separation occurs ONLY in the church “at this particular time.”

p. 17 – 18.2 Bro. Houteff turns to the SOP to affirm what the Bible says. He affirms that the moment WHEN the 144,000 receive a special “seal” as described by John in their forehead is the same when we read about the mark in Ezekiel 9. The seal/mark is synonymous with “THE EVENT” (Rev. 8:1) but it is not the same as the message nor the time of reformation. These two categories listed above are fulfilled first sequentially BEFORE the last category is fulfilled.

p. 18.3 Here the phrase “the purification” (previously differentiated and shown) as the slaughter is synonymous with “the sealing” of the 144,000, came “at the COMMENCEMENT of the ‘Loud Cry’.” Here is the justification of the misconstrued idea that in 1929 the “Loud Cry” began by Bro. Caldric’s theory. But here is also where the traditional held position of Mt. Dale is thoroughly convoluted so that we fail to appreciate Bro. Houteff’s finer distinctions between each concept by its context although sometimes the same words may be utilized. If this proves why the 144,000 are the “firstfruits” then the COMMENCEMENT of the Harvest TIME is synonymous with “THE EVENT” described in the listed 3rd category above. If you disagree prove it wrong.

p. 19.1 proves that what happens to the 144,000 among the SDA Church will also happen with the Second fruits which culminates, finalizes the work of Harvest TIME. The marking/sealing indeed occurs in two sections.

p. 19.2 When “the sealing” angel comes to Jesus with the first report we must remember all of the previous interpreted details in the “golden bowl” that have transpired before we got to this point in time. Bro. Houteff is still interpreting details that will only occur in the gap. We must understand that Before he gives that first report to Christ “the sealing” angel finds Jesus in the same place WHERE he left Him WHEN he received the instructions to go and set a seal/mark on the sighing and crying saints. They were at the threshold of the House at the COMMENCEMENT of the Harvest just before the slaughter occurred. This is where I rested my case before but on this occasion, I’m going to continue.

p. 19.3 – 21.1 When you compare both reports they occurred “on two different occasions” and two different locations. The first report happens inside the gap and at “the threshold of the house” on earth. But the second report is done outside the gap and takes place in heaven.

p. 21.2 Isaiah also is a witness to the fulfillment of what John and Ezekiel saw. The pleading is done through a message during probationary time before the gap and then afterwards He ceases pleading and comes to perform the separation in the gap. And thus the 144,000 of course becomes the instrument, the sickle in Jesus’s hands by which He reaps the Second fruits of the earth after the gap.

p. 22.1 Bro. Houteff returns to the SOP and affirms the Bible. Here we have the detail of what Jesus is wearing during the TIME in the gap—the literal garments of vengeance.

p. 22.2 This “in ‘the unfolding of truth’” must not be misconstrued to prove that we must have a living prophet when Ezek. 9 is being fulfilled. It simply must be taken in the context of Amos 3:7. God could not have done this physical work of “purification” without having given a warning (message) and time (sealing time) to make good BEFORE the events in the gap begins.

p. 23.1 Avoid using “the sealing” time to worsen your deplorable condition Ezekiel’s revelation found you in.

p. 23.2 – 24.1 Christ’s parables interpreted by Bro. Houteff to have a direct bearing on this momentous exposé.

p. 24.2 is contrasting interpreted details BEFORE the gap could not occur AFTER the general close of probation nor during the details after the gap “the time of the ‘Loud Cry.’”

p. 24.3 Biblical details arranged after the gap. However, before they can be fulfilled the name of the church is changed.

p. 25.1 Bro. Houteff’s interpretation contrasts what takes place during the gap with what takes place after the gap. Likewise two contrasting groups from two different locations at two different occasions. One “AT the COMMENCEMENT” of the Harvest time and the other during the Harvest time. These two groups Bro. Houteff’s interpretation affirms why this takes place during probationary time.

p. 25.2 – 26.3 “the Purity of the Message” This interpretation brings your attention right back before the gap. Have you been diligent noticing the back and forth nature of the interpretation between three occasions namely BEFORE the gap, during the gap and AFTER the gap? Unmistakable as the Dardanelles of the Bible is this revelation. This is the means [the message by a prophet under His complete control] by which “a special work of purification” will be carried out.

p. 27.1 “How Is the Message Derived?” By an inspired mouth piece. Zech. 4 in effect.

p. 27.2 – 28 “The Character of the Message” It will be inspired, brought by a messenger and God will perform what He said He will do.

p. 29.1 – 30.1 “Will They Hear the Messenger and Allow the Message to Enter the Church?” The message will be rejected and resisted and this action is affirmed by the SOP.

p. 30.2 – 32 “An Explanation of the Cherubim and the Wheels” This is one step backwards before Ezekiel receives the message. More details about Jesus’ travelling throne. And this is the occasion Bro. Houteff chose to reveal the judicial insignia of Rev. 4:7 with the four fantastic faces of the living creatures  of Ezekiel’s chariot.

p. 33 “When Will This Chariot Arrive: How Long Will It Stay?” After Bro. Houteff “proves that the Lord came in this chariot and commanded [not the angels] but in this instances Ezekiel” to bring a message for his people ONLY but its fulfillment would be “at the commencement of the ‘Loud Cry’ (Mal 3:1(b)-3) of the Third Angel’s message.” Which is the condition of the Church that precipitates the revelation of Ezekiel’s Vision? The Lord reveals the TIME and the condition. This of course should not be misconstrued with the work of “the sealing” angel. “WHEN the message came, this chariot, invisible to human beings…had already arrived” thus proving that the Lord had delivered the revelation.

p. 34.1 Reveals evidence of the presence of the chariot by the presence of the message delivered to Ezekiel for His church WHEN this message should be revealed.

p. 34.2 However, this paragraph contains an interpretation that does not appear again in the last 1941 Edition. “The following will reveal the length of time this swift flying chariot, with the glory of the Lord, is to remain upon the earth.” And following this interpretation he quotes Ezek. 9:8-10. Now we can fully comprehend by comparing both editions why this particular interpretation would be dropped. The bible records Jesus’s movement with precise details and these details are not ambiguous and should not be interpreted to create a contradiction so we can understand why as an inspired prophet he later dropped it. Yet, he keeps the chariot in play on earth but no longer emphasizes Jesus being directly there during the time “a special work of purification” (p. 14.2) by the message is taking place.

p. 34.3 Reveals the conflict by contradiction if the first interpretation of the first sentence of p. 34.2 would have been kept. Now Bro. Houteff is interpreting what is taking place in the gap. At this point in time all this transpires in the gap AFTER the sealing message has done its appointed revival and reformation work “the Lord, and the cherubims were on the ‘threshold of the house’ (Ezek. 9:3) until the slaughter was finished…” And here is the kicker. Here is an inspired interpretation that survives revision and was maintained and repeated in the last 1941 edition. “…and as the slaying began before the marking [a.k.a. sealing] was over [in the SDA Church as far and wide they are located in the world], then, ‘the man clothed with linen, which had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter.…Therefore, after the sighing and crying ones were marked, the slaughter finished, and the man with the inkhorn by his side had ‘reported the matter,’ the Lord “spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said go in between the wheels,…”

p. 35.1 interprets the “fire” as the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

In CONCLUSION of this study analysis we reached up to the disputed inspired interpreted controversial point.  In this 1st Edition in 1933 it is found on page 34.3. Whereas in the last 1941 Edition we are most familiar with is found on page 38.2. We have learned that there is a gap between the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the approach of Ezekiel’s throne in vision. We affirm that “the sealing” message is not one and the same thing at the same time with the future predicted EVENT by the same message the work of the sealing/marking angel. Thus, the marking of the 144,000 does not need to be consummated before the slaughter begins anywhere.
